My journey of the filming process

My journey of the filming process hasn’t started yet I will start to film Tuesday (11/26) after school. We haven’t filmed for many reasons like because we weren’t able to decide on an actual day because everyone is busy. It would be a great idea to film throughout thanksgiving break, but we can’t because one of my group members will be going out of town. It would have been great to film then though because we could have got it all done. I was absent in class today (11/25) but I was called by a group member because there was another disagreement about filming on Tuesday (11/26). One of my group members now don’t want to film on Tuesday which is a problem. We all cleared our schedule and settled on Tuesday but now she wants to change it to fit her schedule. My group and I are trying to ignore having to rush the editing process. With knowledge on how long it takes to edit we want to be smart about not pushing the filming process to close to the due date. I have high expectations for this video, and I want it to turn out a certain way and rushing will cause that not to happen.

I wanted to film on Saturday, but I couldn’t because of a track team car wash I had to participate in. While at the car wash one of my group members and I had a discussion. We talked about how important filming on Tuesday will be. I just feel like the more that things come together throughout this process the more downfalls that occur. Throughout this whole planning process, it’s been causing confliction with everyone. I don’t want to wait to film after Thanksgiving break because in my opinion that’s pushing it way too close to the deadline. The video is due 12/6 and filming Monday 12/4 is not the right thing to do. I can tell there is a lot of tension in the air. When I heard that I must make a music video I got excited thinking It will be fun, but we haven’t even got to record any videos and I’m already aggravated. In my opinion the whole reason of why we haven’t filmed yet is dragging the whole process down.

We all know how good our video can be so If we start the filming process tomorrow, we can make that happen. I’ll be really upset if we don’t.  I hope we can create the video like how it was planned on the story board. From the location to the movements they all went together perfectly it’s just up to us to get our schedules together and make it happen. If all fails tomorrow, we will just have to go with our backup idea of waiting to film until next week. I’m a just have hope and believe that this process will go smooth in due time. Since my group member can’t make it, we will probably still go to our first location to get some filming done. Our first location is the beach. I’m ready to stop stressing and have fun in the music video. Hopefully tomorrow can change my opinion about this filming process.

Planning Music Video

For my group and I project, we will feature our self in the music video with the song “No Fear” by Dej loaf. Each one of us will be responsible for recording a part of our music video. This will take place on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Places on the beach such as the ice-cream shop, tattoo shop, on the sand and at the park across the street from the beach. We will also have a scene in the car with high hopes. If the beach is not fitting that specific day, we will change location and go to a local
Park. We will test these spots and take multiple footages as well to see what works well for our video throughout the process. We will probably not get every location but we would like to try and get as much footage as possible. For safety purposes, we will get permission first from our parents of course. We will be in a large group to make sure that we are protected at all times, we are aware that is very important that we stay attentive throughout the process and make sure no one is harmed. Our phone will also be on us and well charged incase of an emergency to call 911 or our parents/peers for assistance. In the car we will be wearing our seatbelts as well. Since our video is about having fun and being free, we will be eating ice-cream at the ice-cream shop. We will probably include more other food items depending on how we feel that day to spice up the video. Food makes anyone feel better and since it's a “feel good” song, the food will be a good element. The car that we will be riding around in will be or other prop as well because we want a scene looking out the window while driving past the beach. There will be no specific costume set for our music video. Due to the fact that the weather can change at anytime and we are not sure what we will want to wear the day of filming, it's better we just go with the flow. Permission wise we will ask anyone around if they don’t want to be in the background of our  video and get their consent before recording. We will not be wearing black for obvious reasons.

Music Video Research

It's a new day and the commercial is finally done so it's on to the next assignment. I learned a lot through out process and it was a wonderful experience. I learned how to use pinnacle studios and how to make a whole 30 second commercial. Through out the editing process I didn't know how to add the music to the film so I wish I would of learned more about that.  I learned that planning out a story board is very important because if not it will cause the whole filming experience to be difficult.
The next project is the music video and I'm really excited to do it! I'm ready to know how all the celebrities create their videos and the behind the scenes experience of it.
Today in class we chose our song. The song were choosing is “No Fear”. We are planning to go to different sceneries. The song is an upbeat song that has good vibes. In our video, we’re going to do things that we enjoy. We plan to go to the beach, and do a car ride, get ice cream and just fun things in general. Our main goal is to have a very good time in the video to best match the music.
Hip hop/ Rap is the most common genre in music  and is being played on repeat on our radios. The genre has so many elements to it, to the point where there are over twenty other smaller genres in this hip hop/ Rap genre; Small genres such as lyrical rap and alternative rap was exhibited through our song “No Fear”.
When it comes to the camera angles in the music videos it’s very common to see low angles, long shot, and Dutch. The establishing shot and tracking shot is used in every music video as well as medium long shot.
The music video itself has a lot of sound but there are things that go on beyond that for the whole video to come to life such as non-diegetic sound, sound bridge, and dialogue.
The editing part of the music videos are very creative, i see a lot of cross cutting, eye-line match, and action match. The most popular editing is graphic match when scenes are matching with each other.
There is also mis-en-scene that goes into making the whole video and it includes things like #1 the genre ; In genre's with hip hop/rap the kind of costumes that they wear are things that are popular at the moment so it can be things like designer outfits (Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin) with accessories such as big chains and shades.
2. The lighting in the music videos are usually dark and flashy lights since they shoot the videos in a house. They also tend to switch scenes and go outside to shoot their videos as well so natural light from the sun is also used.
3. Most of the time in music videos it’s usually the artist just singing the song but sometimes there is acting i realized that it usually has to deal with someone being in character and talking on the phone or even acting as if they are having a dance battle like in Chris Brown- No Guidance.
4.As i look closer i notice that everyone does have on makeup but it tend to always be a nice natural look nothing too crazy.
5. To spice everything up props that are commonly used are cars and stacks of money.
6. When researching I noticed a lot of the same settings but some were really different it varied from roof tops, houses, hotels, and some even on train tracks or in the middle of nowhere on an open road but, most were in an urban setting living the “lavish” lifestyle.

Final Editing for Commercial

Blog
In class my group and i grabbed a school laptop and plugged in the usb to finally start editing. Since we were finally able to edit one of my group members started the editing process. He clicked pinnacle studios and pulled up all our videos. We previously selected all the videos we wanted before but they didn’t save. Due to that happening we had to reselect everything. We decided to go with the longer videos so we can get to our 30 second limit then crop videos if needed. We didn’t use the ones with people talking in the back but we did have to use one with birds chirping in the background. After selecting we cropped all the videos and ended up at exactly 30 seconds. We then watched over the video multiple times before we were completely satisfied. We kept having to go back and crop some videos to make it pleasing to the eye to watch.
Editing ended up having to also be done next class and 2 of my group members were out on the second day of editing. Ambrielle and I was left to finish the editing process. Since all the videos were already aligned together we noticed we needed to add music. We asked our teacher what to do and she told us to go to YouTube. Once at YouTube we looked up background music for commercials. We found one and liked it but decided to listen to another one. We liked the second one more so we decided to use it instead. Then we had to make the Music into an mp3 to upload it to the video. We asked a classmate to help us add music due to the fact she already added music to her commercial. She helped us by helping us find the music because once transformed into an mp3 we were confused on how to add it.
The music was put into AV 3 and then fitted into the commercial which was in AV 2. The music was finally added but was playing really loud to the point we couldn’t hear us talking in the videos. I had to drag the song sound down and raise our voices up. So the song was playing low in the background in some parts when we were talkin and loud in places where there was no talking. We had a conflict with not being able to hear our voice in the intro. We ended up deleting that video and adding it back. Once added back we could hear the sound in video and everything was fixed. To finish everything off we added a title in the beginning saying “Nike” which is what the commercial is advertising. Once we adjusted the title and changed the font our commercial was finished and we were done editing. Afterwards I saved the video and then it was sent to my teacher.
